Runway Sound: Speakers for Your Style

Do yourself a favor and review your history of speaker selection. It’s akin to examining one’s choices in past haircuts – a bit perplexing/scary. What was it about those hefty black box speakers that was so awesome? They were half the size of your couch.  Alas, bigger was better. It meant greater sound, or so we thought. Then again, we thought big hair meant big living, too. Let’s learn from our lapses in judgment.

Sports Bar All Stars

Note: All of the following establishments have full bars

Soccer Taco - Soccer Taco has two locations – Bearden and Market Square. The Bearden location is busy, loud, a little cramped, and awesome. The Market Square location is more aesthetically pleasing, busy, and also very fun. Go to Soccer Taco for a communal experience, and for the delicious Mexican food named after your favorite sports teams. Obviously, this place is great for watching soccer.

Before & After: Projection Screen Edition

Our latest upgrade project featured a five-year-old manual pull down basic grey HD outdoor screen. It was great when it was first installed in 2008, but its age was really starting to show. The screen housing was rusting and the bottom of the screen was beginning to unravel. With so many advancements in outdoor projection screens, it was time for an upgrade and we had the perfect solution: The Stewart Oasis outdoor screen with Firehawk G3 material.

What may look best to an interior designer may not be optimal for home theater sound to an installer. By working together, both sides can achieve a beautiful and fuctioning home theater.

Universal Remote versus Apps

Have you ever wondered if it would be easier to get rid of all those remote controls that are on the coffee table? I know with me, half the time I cannot figure out which remote goes to what device or if one remote is controlling everything. It is such a cluster sometimes just to turn on the t.v. WITH the sound. Well one dealer, Leon Shaw, sees for himself if he could eliminate all remotes and use only the apps that go with his entertainment system.

Home Entertainment: Screens and Projectors for any room

In our previous blog, we discussed how a home theater is a great addition to any home and can bring the family together. There are so many possibilities you could do with a home theater. So this week we want to discuss some great screens and projectors that can complement different areas within the home and provide amazing home entertainment.

Media Rooms

Media rooms and home theaters are an increasingly popular feature within a home. Two major benefits are that they boost a home's entertainment value as well as its potential resale value. A media room is designed to be a multifunctional space, and most media rooms are an upstairs family room or the basement man cave. What is great about a media room is that it is a wonderful way to spend time with your friends and family and yet showcase what your home can do. Between audio, video, and possibly having some home automation in the mix can create a fantastic entertainment area.

Media Room vs Home Theater

MEDIA ROOM vs THEATER ROOM... Do you know the difference?

In comparing a media room to a dedicated home theater, there is one main difference that sets them apart. A Theater room is designed to replicate a cinema experience and that is it, while the flexibility of a media room is more practical for people who want to do more than sit in the dark and watch movies. Simply said... a Media room is used for multiple activities while a Theater room is simply used for one activity.

The term media room has evolved into a generic definition for a multipurpose space. It gives you a more social experience! Friends congregate there to watch the big game. Families go there to watch a movie together. It's party central when guests visit! Things such as bowling alleys, Golf Screens, Pool tables, Movie screens, Bars, etc... have all been used in a media room set up and the possiblities are quite endless!

Home Theater Heat Wave!

Having the HOTEST Home theater in town...doesnt have to be LITERAL!

Having a theater room is a great and fun addition to any home, but as many people experience, once you get all the electronics running and you settle in for your favorite movie, the room tempature drastically increases. It happens more often then not when people have a theater room that was not installed in a room already containing a thermostat of its own. The ideal solution is to have your installation tech instal a new thermostat in the room to control the tempature changes quickly all on its own, however this can be costly. Also most people who set up their own theater room are not even aware of this issue until it is too late.

Projectors vs LED TVs

Projector or TV? Is it even a Contest?

When you compare a projector and TV with similar specs, the projector easily provides just as clear and crisp an image as the TV. However, the projector's image will be double or triple the size, making those lifelike colors and sharp details even more noticeable.

Imagine the look on your friends' and neighbors' faces when they see the 120-inch HD display in your Home Theater and learn that it cost half the price of their 60-inch flat screens. They will be drooling with jealousy when you take that same image and move it to another room or even outside. As light as 5 pounds, a home cinema projector is like a movie theater with a handle!

If you’re planning your new home, you’ve probably noticed that “interior” design has found its way outside. In modern homes, the backyard patio, deck or pool area can often be as elaborate as any inside space, sometimes incorporating a full kitchen, extensive seating and dining areas, and, of course, electronic entertainment. That means getting sound and video, normally enjoyed under the protection of a roof, safely outdoors. It also means being sure your AV equpiment is protected from the weather in all seasons.
